cataloging
If you’re looking to catalog materials in Russian quickly, inexpensively, of impeccable quality, and shelf-ready, then the Russian Cataloging Agency (RusCat) is the right place for you.

We provide cataloging for Russian and other Slavic languages in MARC21 format according to AACR2 or RDA, using Library of Congress subject headings, FAST headings, LC classification system or Dewey.

Russian cataloging by Russian native speakers
Language:
we don’t claim that we can catalog in every language (although, in fact, we can catalog in all Slavic languages), but we happily catalog materials in our mother tongue - Russian – superbly. Yes, other Slavic languages are also a possibility as we have multilingual catalogers on staff.

Type of resources:
we catalog monographs, serials, e-resources, visual materials and music (except for scores).

Delivery:
cataloging can be done either from items in hand, or via digital surrogates. If your library is cataloging in OCLC, materials can be cataloged directly in Connexion using your library’s OCLC symbol. MARC records can also be delivered in .mrc files via email, Excel file or any other form of output convenient for you.

Level of cataloging:
we provide original and copy cataloging, as well as enhancing records with vernacular script fields, per your library’s specifications. We will work with you to access your specific needs and to develop a detailed plan.

Prices:
we provide services at a very competitive prices, ranging from $5 to $20 per item, depending on the nature of the material, the level of cataloging and the customization. Basically, your library will be getting PCC quality records for a tiny fraction of the price.

Prices for consortia libraries can be further reduced.

from Russia shelf-ready

If you are buying materials from one of the two major Russian book vendors – EastView Information Services or NK (Natasha Kozmenko) Booksellers who both ship from Moscow, it’s possible to make arrangements so that the materials will come to your library directly from Moscow, already fully cataloged and processed, and shelf-ready. Just let us know.

who we are?

We are former Library of Congress Program for Cooperative Cataloging (LC PCC) catalogers, who have previously worked in American leading academic libraries for many years, and are currently living in Moscow. We also employ Russian graduates of American library programs with experience working in American libraries, and English-speaking catalogers working in Moscow libraries. All of our staff is trained according to PCC standards and follow BIBCO/NACO/SACO guidelines when creating MARC records. As long-time contributors to LC NACO program, we can also create authority records for personal, corporate names, series titles or name/titles on your behalf.
